Mauricio Díaz Valdés is a Mexican architect and researcher specializing in sustainable construction, advanced design methodologies, and the rehabilitation of social housing through the integration of innovative materials and technologies. He holds a Master’s degree in Parametric Design in Architecture (2021-2022)  from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and a Master’s degree in Architectural Design (2016-2018) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree focused on the regeneration of uninhabited housing in the metropolitan periphery of Guadalajara, with an emphasis on sustainable strategies, adaptive design, and technological applications.

His academic and professional trajectory is distinguished by an international scope. He has undertaken a research residency at the National University of Singapore, delivered lectures at leading global institutions, and presented his work at prestigious conferences, including the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) Symposium in Zurich. Currently, he serves as an organizer of the 2025 IASS Seminar in Mexico City. In 2025, he also participated in the DLAB programme at the Architectural Association in London, where he explored computational design, robotic construction, and sustainable materials in experimental architectural prototypes.

Díaz Valdés’s research explores the intersection between computational design, sustainable materials, and resilient construction systems, aiming to redefine architectural practices in contexts of urban crisis and housing deficits. His work combines theoretical inquiry with experimental applications, particularly through testing sustainable construction materials and developing replicable methodologies for housing rehabilitation.

Through his academic contributions and professional projects, he seeks to foster innovation in architecture while addressing pressing global challenges related to urbanization, sustainability, and the future of housing.
